When configuring SRM it is recommended to configure the vSphere hosts to store swap files on a swap LUN. The thinking is that swap files are temporary files that get recreated when VMs reboot. Since by default the files exist on a replicated LUN, the underlying SAN replication solution would processing and replicating these useless files.
Since RecoverPoint is optimized to dedupe and compress data before sending it to a remote site, is it worth reconfiguring the vSphere host swap file location? Does EMC have a recommendation on this?
