Recovery test question

Hi all

Its more of a logical question.

How do you test the recovery plan if you have resources that are not vm's or not protected by srm, but are required for testing the recovery plan.

For example, if srm does not protect sql servers and active directory servers (they are protected by the application itself), that are needed for a valid test.

I am interested on how people solve this.
